Our Past & Present
Our journey began more than half a century ago. Even though our auto body repair shop has changed a couple of addresses, we have always remained a part of the community. Back in 1961, Shelbourne Wallace and his father opened the doors to Wallace Oldsmobile in downtown Bristol.
By 1975, Shelbourne opened a dedicated collision repair center to answer the growing needs of the customers. Simply put, the other repair shops weren’t delivering and their customers made sure to voice their opinions.
Vehicle and driver safety was the primary concern. People needed someone to restore their vehicles to their pre-collision state. Yet, complete restoration was only a part of the goal for Wallace and his team.
The main focus was, and still is, ensuring passenger safety. Wallace had a unique way of achieving this goal even before the vehicle would leave his local body shop. The vehicle needed to be safe enough for Shelbourne’s own family to ride in. With this powerful thought in mind, Wallace’s team pour their heart and soul into every repair to this very day.
Today, our newly-renovated and state-of-the art collision repair shop is fully equipped to restore your car back to its former glory. We service both Bristol, TN and Bristol, VA; however, it isn’t uncommon for our customers to come from the towns and cities of Northeast Tennessee, Southwest Virginia, and Western North Carolina.
Bristol is also home to our three dealerships: Wallace Kia of Bristol, Wallace Volkswagen of Bristol, and Wallace Subaru of Bristol. Here, you will find global brand names and the quality they exude and a local family owned business of over 55 years that will provide exceptional customer service.
